The Secret to Making an Amazing Video Wall for Your Presentation

As someone that focuses most of their energy on computers and tech related products, one of the most common questions that I hear these days is, “How do I make a video
wall?” Fortunately for those that are trying to put together options for a video wall, in this article I’m going to discuss how to make a video wall.  We’ll discuss all the various components that you need to get your video wall up and running.  Hopefully by the end of this article you’ll be able to piece together everything you need to get your video wall up and running and in turn this will help your business, whatever it may be, thrive!

Let’s start with a very important part of any video wall, the monitors.  I can’t honestly think of a good reason to use anything other than LED high resolution monitors these days.  But beyond resolution is there something that you should be looking for when you pick out your monitors?  Of course there is, one of the things that makes a video wall so attractive is using monitors which have a smaller than traditional bezel.  The idea behind finding monitors with a small bezel is that you’ll be able to use many small (and inexpensive as well) screens to create a giant screen. In case you’re unsure, the bezel is simply the inactive part of the screen, it kind of looks like a frame to me. There are a
number of companies that focusing on micro bezel.  Among those are Samsung, NEC and Dell.  I can’t say for sure that one is particularly better than the other.  I will say that NEC has been around and innovating in the monitor world probably the longest, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are the best.  Probably the best way to pick your monitors is to find out what’s on sale, and then compile a pros and cons list to determine what you best option is going to be.

Next you need to consider what type of video card is going to be best.  Well let me back up, there are multiple options for connecting your screens and making them active.  What you choose should be dependent on how many monitors you need to use or how big you want to make your video wall.  The two main methods for hooking up your video wall are going to be using a multiple monitor computer and using a stand-alone video wall controller.  There are pros and cons to each of course, which we’ll touch on, just a little bit.

One of the big advantages of using a stand-alone video wall controller is going to be cost.  When you’re building your video wall it’s important to make cuts where you can, and by using a device such as the iVu9 Xtreme4vs.  The beauty of a device like this is this is that it’s relatively easy to setup, as the ports are conveniently placed.  It can handle up to 9 different screens in up to 3 different arrangements and can be easily programmed, to make moving your video wall (if necessary) a complete breeze.   Of course, a big advantage is also the ability to use high-resolution graphics across all the screens.  And finally, I find it pretty cool that you can remote into your stand-alone video wall controller so that you can program the screens as needed.  This is definitely a cool feature.  For example, consider this:  you’ve sent an employee to work a trade show that you were unable to attend, but you can make adjustments to your presentation on the fly, thanks to the remote-in feature.

The other option, and one that many opt to do for some reason or another, is to have a custom PC built that’s designed to specifically for multiple monitors.  I know this seems like it might be a good option, and honestly for some of you it might be, but it does tend to be a bit more expensive.  Here’s why:  when you build your own system, you’re stuck with the cost of an expensive video card that can handle multiple monitors and the cost of a computer system that will cost you a pretty penny as well.  You can’t go cheap when you get your computer system either, and that’s a big chunk of the expense.  You need a system with a fast processor, preferably an i7 and 4-8 GBs of RAM.  There’s nothing wrong with going this route though, and in the end it may give you a bit more control, which is what some people are looking for, and there’s certainly nothing wrong with that.  You just have to balance you decision and figure out what is going to work best for your business.

One big question people ask quite frequently is what type of stand do you use for video walls.  The answer really depends on the size and scope of your video wall.  In other words, there are customized stands that can be purchased that make setup (physically) your video wall pretty easy.  Among these stands, it’s worth noting, that there are both stand alone versions and wall mounted versions, either of which is considerably easy to assemble and display.  Of course there are custom stands for large display setups.  The stand usually cost a few hundred dollars.  You don’t need to be an expert to setup a video wall stand; it’s fairly common sense.

Hopefully this article helped you figure out how to make a video wall.  It is not hard to do these days, all you need are the tools and you can have your video wall up and running in no time at all.  The benefits of having a video wall in your business’s arsenal are exponential.  You’ll find that you’re better able to attract new clients and new customers and you’ll love how easy it is to setup and design new content for you presentation.  Using a video wall will be one of the smartest moves that you’ve ever made for your business.

Small Bezels and Powerful Screens Mean a Near Seamless Video Wall

There are more reasons than I can name for you to want a seamless video wall, but regardless of what it is, the big question that is how do you create a seamless video wall for your office, digital signage, trade show display or whatever other purpose you have.  In this article we’re going to try and discuss a few of the basics that you need to know when you put together a video wall system, and how you can create a seamless video wall display that will attract business from new prospects that will be amazed at just how stunning your display is.

There are essentially 2 types of jumbo displays that your company can use to impress your perspective clients.  You have single monitor displays and multiple monitor displays.  The difference is just like it probably sounds.  When you have a single monitor jumbo display you actually have a truly seamless display, which is what most people are after.  Depending on what monitor or unit you are using, this can be extremely high resolution, despite being extremely large.  There are a number of makers that make very large displays that can be used for this type of display.  NEC is known for their stunning color and the technology that they use behind it.  That’s probably why they are such a popular choice for multiple monitor computer systems.  The problem with NEC is that they tend to be on the expensive side of things.  For example, they offer quite a stunning 82-inch display (completely seamless of course.)  It’s price, on sale, is just under $50,000.  That’s quite a purchase regardless of how big your company is, so it’s important to be sure that you’re looking for a true seamless monitor before making this purchase.

On the flip side of things, the other style of video wall that is available is a wall using multiple monitors that are connected through a central unit.  There are certainly pros and there are certainly cons to using this type of system over the single monitor seamless video wall.   Probably my favorite pro about using a multiple monitor system is that you can scale this system much easier than using a true seamless.  The multiple monitor system is setup up really one of 2 ways.  The options are either a central computer, which controls the monitors individually by using certain software and a special video card that allows multiple outputs, or by using a stand-alone controller.  If you are looking for the least expensive route, then using a stand-alone controller is probably your best option.  A controller such the iVu9 pro will allow for up to 9 outputs and multiple different monitor arrangements, giving you the flexibility to setup the monitors however you choose.

The biggest drawback to using a multiple monitor setup is that it’s not a truly seamless, and the closer to seamless you go, the more expensive the monitors may end up costing you.  It really all comes down to bezel size.  On most monitors the bezel is around ½ to ¾ of an inch.  However, there are special monitors that you can purchase that have a bezel that is much smaller and significantly less noticeable.  You can use these and create a super stunning display for 1/10 of the cost that you would pay for the seamless NEC 82-inch monitor.   Depending on your application and whether or not you need a truly seamless monitor, this may be a better option for you.  It really just depends on your overall needs.

Regardless of what you decide, setting up your seamless video wall or your near seamless video wall will be a boon for your business.  You’ll appreciate the additional business that having a video wall setup will bring your company.  There are a few choices to make when you’re setting up your video wall, but you ultimately know what’s best for your business and a custom solution that’s right for you can only be determined after you examine all the facts.  Seamless or semi-seamless, a video wall is going to help improve your business, it’s a guarantee.

Why in the World Would you Use a Desktop Designed for Trading?

Most serious traders and investors that pay close attention to the financial markets have a trading desktop setup with at least 2 monitors. For day traders and FOREX traders alike, the advantages of having a trading desktop with a monitor array will far outweigh the disadvantages or concerns of space on

their desk. And now that there is such a nice variety of LCD and LED displays that are flat and easy to arrange, especially with the use of multiple monitor stands, there is even less reason to worry.
Installing a trading desktop with multi-monitors on a computer with the newest processors (like the Intel Core i3, i5, i7 Core 2 Duo/Quad and the AMD Athlon and Phenom) is fairly easy to do. If you need additional equipment will depend mostly on what type of video card you already have installed on your desktop. While some day traders prefer to use big brand desktops like Dell or HP, the majority have figured out that building a custom design is a much more reliable approach to having a great system. Hopefully though, they were smart enough to grab a dual or quad-monitor capable PCI Expres graphics card when they were designing their system. The fact is most computers that you buy at large retailers like Best Buy or even Wal-Mart will have graphics cards that are only equipped to handle a single monitor display.
If you are a stock, futures or FOREX trader then you’re probably looking for the easiest and quickest method to setup a multiple monitor trading desktop. Off the shelf systems are hard to come by at local retailers. However, if you don’t mind ordering from the web, multi-monitors.com has an awesome selection of multiple monitor computers that are out of the box ready to display multiple monitors. One such example is the Super PC Dual Monitor Computer from their Multi-Tasking Series. This computer features an i5 Intel processor and an HD5670 graphics card that is already capable of running multiple monitors. It also comes with Windows 7 which makes setting up and arranging your multiple monitors a real breeze.
If you’re looking for the latest in graphics card technology for your trading desktop then it’s a PCI Expresed based graphics card that you are after. They are the latest technology bus for video card adapters. Much like the previous generation of cards they have one main advantage- they are faster. You need to have a dual head PCIe card like the HD5670 graphics card or the NVidia Quadro if you want to run multiple monitors. Fortunately, the cost on these cards is not too terrible at this point. These cards are kind of a no brainer for a trader trying to build a quality trading PC.
If your current card is a single headed card then you really have a couple of solutions that you can employ- either buy a new dual head graphics card, like one of the ones listed above, or you can by an adapter like the Matrox DualHead2Go or TripleHead2Go. These adapters allow you to hook up additional monitors without any internal hardware installs. This means it’s easier to get setup. And the cool thing is that they aren’t too much more expensive than a regular graphics card.
One problem you may encounter if you are trying to install a dual head graphics card into an older computer is that the older computer may only have PCI slots. This means that you will have to install an additional PCI VGA card for each additional monitor that you’d like to install. The good news is that these cards are pretty darn cheap these days. The bad news is of course it’s more to install, so it will be a little more work on your part. The point being, however, that you can incorporate the same technologies in an older computer as well.
So the main thing now that you have to consider is what type of monitors to buy. The old CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitors are no longer viable option. They’re big, bulky and eat tons of energy. Instead we now have LCD and LED displays, with LED being the most recent an easily the best option. This is probably why most people are opting to go with LED. A big advantage to the LED monitors for your trading desktop is that they are super compact and light weight. However, if you’re looking to spend less money than LCD monitors aren’t bad either. They just aren’t quite as sharp of an image.
Overall putting together a great trading desktop isn’t all that tough, it just requires a little know how and information on what’s available. For those of us that aren’t always up to date with the latest trends in technology, then the better option might be to pay a company that does this regularly to build your system. One such company is called multi-monitors.com. They can help you design the perfect computer for your situation, and you won’t be disappointed. They’ve been helping companies put together amazing systems for almost 10 years and they are still going strong. They are the go to company for the US Military on some of their biggest video wall projects, so that means they are reliable and should be your go to company too! They mean business when it comes to trading desktops.

Computers with Multi-Display Capabilities

A few weeks ago we celebrated 20 years of internet and we have so many things to be thankful for if you ask me.  The internet is more than just a source of entertainment, or news- it has become a way of life for many people, including myself.  And with this improvement the need for multi display technologies has increased dramatically.  Because of these improvements the need for faster and more functional computers has also arisen.  One of the major reasons for such an a demand is the use of multiple monitor technologies.  These technologies allow us to see and do more while improving our own productivity.  It’s quite amazing really.  And this isn’t just limited to one type of business.  Businesses across the board are using these new technologies to improve their productivity and more.

Benefits of Using Multi-Screen Arrays

While there are quite a few benefits to using a multi-screen array for your work project, I’m just going to list a couple which should be some of your top considerations if you are considering purchasing a dual screen array.  Number one is your ability to increase you multi tasking capabilities.  Using multi screen arrays are typical for professionals that need to keep a constant eye on their screen for updates such as stock changes, currency fluctuations, overall traffic movement or even just email, all while working on additional projects.  Using a dual-screen array makes this possible.  While I will be the first to admit that having 3 or more monitors is definitely only going to increase your productivity, having at least 2 will certainly help.  And yes, it’s true- you can connect up to 12 monitors (and with the right equipment even more) to the same computer.

Configuration is one of the key aspects to consider when setting up your multiple monitor computers, especially if you are a day trader.  Using the right amount of RAM, the right processor, the right video card(s) are all going to be imperative.  But don’t forget the monitors you’re going to use either.  I highly recommend making sure you get something at least 22 inches or more and that have a screen resolution of at least 1080p (which is the highest available at the time of writing this article. )  There are a few different types of monitors available, but my personal favorite is the LED monitor because of its high resolution, low energy usage and light weight.

If you have employees, than it may be time to start considering a multiple monitor computer system for them as well.  You could be costing your company thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars every year, by simply not allowing your employees to reach their maximum potential with a multiple monitor computer system.  Just think of it this way, if every employee wastes 6 minutes a day (the national average) switching back and forth between applications and you have 10 employees- you are losing 60 minutes a day, and a full WEEK of work for absolutely no reason what so ever.  Yes! 40 hours a week WASTED.

So what kinds of professionals like to use multiple monitor computer systems?  Well the answer is all kinds.  Accountants, writers, designers, video editors and more all have begun to switch to a multiple monitor computer system.  And that’s just the tip of the ice berg.  We hear and see day traders using day trading computer systems the most, but that’s only because  they are often featured in entrepreneurial magazines and works- with pictures of their day trading computer systems.  It doesn’t mean that they are the only people that are or should be using multiple monitor computer systems.  The average Joe can find just as much use for a multiple monitor array as a stock or forex trader.  In fact, I just installed 2 extra monitors for my mother the teacher, in an effort to help her more effectively grade papers, write and do various other bits of work.

In closing, if you are considering a multiple monitor computer system, there is a good chance that you find a slew of amazing benefits.  Don’t be afraid to branch out, and certainly don’t be afraid to spend a little money getting the system you really want.  There are tons of great computer systems out there, but only one is exactly what you have been looking for.

If you are looking for a multiple monitor computer company, there is really only one company I can honestly recommend: multi-monitors.com.  The reason is that they have been around the longest, have the best customer service, the fastest production and the most amazing support among all of the multiple monitor computer companies on the web.  I personally have worked with Dave and Ryan at Multi-monitors.com and they helped me build my dream computer and if you need some assistance they can help you as well.   In fact, they can probably put together your dream computer faster and with better specs than any other company on the web.    They are fantastic and a dream to work with, I highly recommend that you look them up and give them a shot today, rather than going with any other company.

Attaching Multi-monitors to Your PC

If you’re trying to become a better and more efficient worker, the easiest way to do so is to start using multiple monitor computers.  They are becoming increasingly popular and the best part is that because of new technology it’s become very easy to set up as well.  But to avoid any frustrations, you must first buy the right equipment which will allow you to hook up multiple monitors trouble free.  Hardware is, hands down, the most important aspect to your multiple monitor computer system.  And fortunately for new multiple monitor users, the technology needed to do this is constantly improving, making it easier than ever to hook up.  Graphics cards such as the NVIDIA and multiple monitor adapters such as the Triple Head 2 Go allow even the most techno retarded idiot to hook up multiple screens without any problems.

So what are some of the advantages of using multiple monitor adapters over expensive video cards.  Well their parallel processing which partners with the processor means a faster and smoother picture, which results in higher reliability. Video imagery can be transferred seamless without any problems.

Thankfully multiple monitors are now easier to set up.  We’ve gone from bulky and difficult to arrange CRT monitors to ultra thin, ultra high quality LCD monitors which are more effective in  displaying images, but also easier to arrange, move and display.

Overall , it is remarkably easy to connect multiple monitors to your PC.  It’s simply a matter of taking the time do so.

Buy a Dual Monitor Array

Practically everyone has a dual monitor array, but you want to buy one now.  So where do you go and what do you need?  Well first and foremost let’s talk about what a dual monitor array actually is.  Defined,  a dual monitor array is 2 monitors connected to a single computer system.  While it is possible to add considerably more monitors to a single computer, dual monitors arrays have 2 monitors.  Often time 1 or more video cards are use to accomplish this.

So where do you buy a dual monitor array?  You can use a specialty company like multi-monitors.com (aka superpc.com) or you can attempt to build one yourself.  I personally recommend that you use a specialty company as you are less likely to mess something up and you can have it custom built to your specifications.

So what are the different configurations of dual monitor array?  Well there are a couple of arrangements you can consider.  Depending on your setup, you’ll have to determine which one  actually best suits your needs.  The first is the vertical arrangement where 2 monitors appear to be stacked on each other.  The secret behind this arrangement is of course a stand which prevents the monitors from falling over.  The second arrangement is the horizontal arrangement where the monitors appear side by side.  This tends to be the most popular, assuming that you have the desk space to make it work.

Good luck on your question to purchase a dual monitor array.

Multi-Display Computers

I want to share with you a few reasons that multi-display computers have led to an increase in my performance.  Multi-tasking is what separates a good productive worker from a great productive work and if you’re not using a multi-display computer than you are truly missing out on an opportunity to improve your work habits, productivity and more.

So the real question is, are you ready to buy a multiple monitor capable computer?  Follow my advice I will help you pick the absolute best computer for your situation.  This includes helping you decide how many monitors you’re going to need, how many video cards to buy, the amount of ram and the processor you’re going to need.

The first question you should ask yourself is, what are you going to be using this for and how many applications will you be running.  I recommend absolutely no more than 2 applications per 1 monitor (although ideal is 1 application per monitor.)

Other minimums that you should consider:  at least 1 terabyte of storage and 8 gigabytes of RAM.  Combine these components with Windows 7 and you’ll be all set.  Your new system will be able to run practically any application with ease and without any lag.  You’ll also be prepared to upgrade at any time.

This is an ideal time to buy too.    We’ve hit a short term plateau that will result in lower prices for the time being and allow you to get the system of your dream for less than you expected to spend.  Don’t be afraid to jump in and get what you’ve always wanted.  The time is now.

Multi-monitor Adapters

So you may be asking yourself, what is the purpose of a multi-monitor adapter?  The answer is simple:  if you would like to add additional monitors to your current computer setup, but don’t want to go through the hassle of installing additional hardware (such as expensive video cards), then a multi-monitor adapter may be the solution for your problem.  Multi-monitor adapters  work great for someone who wants to turn their laptop into a day trading machine, or someone with limited slots for adding additional hardware.  Pricewise, you won’t end up spending much more than you would for a quality graphics card, but you will be happy with the performance.

So what about performance you ask?  While it’s not an Nvidia Gforce video card, the Triple Head 2Go is the highest quality multi-monitor adapter you can buy.  On top of the its ability to hook up 3 monitors, it’s refresh remains stable and is will give you the performance you’re looking for.

What are some the main reasons you would use a multi-monitor adapter instead of installing additional video cards?   Well the number 1 reason is time.  Time is definitely a big factor.    There is very little effort involved in installing one of these cards.  In fact, nearly anyone could do it.  They come with simple instructions and don’t require any special skills.  All total, it only takes 10-15 minutes, whereas if you’re trying to install videos cards to increase you monitor space, you’re probably looking at significantly more time as well as the requirement of knowing how to this.  And you really have to be careful, just a little static shock could fry your whole computer.   But with the multi-monitor adapter, it’s pretty cut and dry install process and no there is absolutely zero risk of ruining your computer.

Multi-Monitor Computer Company

When demand increases, so should price; or at least that’s what the great economist will tell you.  But when it comes to technology it’s the opposite that is true.  So what multi-monitor computer company is leading the pack?  It appears to me to be SuperPC.com.  They have without a doubt the best technology, customer service and price in the industry.    They offer a variety of technologies and options for business and individuals alike.  In fact, for a multi-monitor computer company, they are absolutely #1.  And although there are several others out there,  this writer can say that superpc/multi-monitors.com is the absolute best place to purchase your multiple monitor computer system.

So what makes them different?  The answer is quality, precision and price.  While other companies are looking for ways to cut costs (using cheaper and inferior product) Super PC continues to use the best possible parts.  The result is 2 fold:  faster and more reliable.  They also keep margins low, so cost to the customer is low as well.   And that’s not to mention their extremely high quality customer service.  Both the initial sales process and customer support are excellent.  You won’t find a pushy salesman at Super PC.  Just professional customer support focused on helping you build the machine you’re looking for. While you may find a few other multiple monitor computer companies out there, I’d stick with Multi-monitors.com if I were you.  Don’t go elsewhere only to realize that you’ve made a huge mistake and cost yourself quality, money and time.

Building a Computer That Runs 6 Monitors

In demand these days:  a computer that can outperform and out last computers of old.  But also important- running multiple monitors- a computer that runs 6 monitors.  Why?  There are dozens of great reasons, but for time and succinctness we’ll stick to some of the main points.

Efficiency:  being able to multi task is absolutely key to being productive.  But your computer system should allow you to do more than just multitask.  You should be able to run a variety of programs at normal speeds without any problems.

Space:  using a multiple monitor stand, you can build a computer that runs six monitors, yet doesn’t hog all of your work space.  There are a variety of arrangements that make this possible and you should limit yourself to a strictly horizontal computer system.   Don’t be afraid to experiment.

Balance:  You should be able to more efficiently balance your workload when using a computer that runs 6 monitors.   Each monitor can have a specific purpose, making it easier for you do things efficiently.

So what’s required to build a computer that runs six monitors?  It’s actually probably easier than you think.  Using three video cards with 2 DVI outputs each is the start.  The only thing you’re really going to want to watch out for is making sure that both your processor and RAM are also up to par.  I personally would use anything less than an Intel i7 and a 8 GBs of RAM.  Don’t be cheap with this part.

I also suggest sticking with Dell or Samsung monitors, as I’ve had great experience with these in the past.  Use something 1080p- no less.  Good luck with your endeavor, you’re going to love your 6 monitor computer system.

A Trading Desktop Computer

In the world of day trading it’s very common to see computer systems with five or 6 monitors, sometimes even more.  A good friend of mine has 12 that he uses to keep track of charts, graphs and more across multiple platforms.  Things like simultaneous display of all important programs, live feeds and even important websites. That’s pretty impressive if you ask me.  So what goes into a trading desktop computer?  There are 2 things he considers when putting are speed and reliability.  I’m going to discuss some of the key components as well as the advantages to have such a system.

Key components of a trading desktop computer include the amount and quality of RAM, CPU (processor), video card or cards depending on how many monitors you want to use and the actual monitors themselves.

The Intel i7 is by far my favorite processor as of right now.  It boosts quite a bit of speed, and while AMD makes good products, I still feel Intel has the edge.  When it comes to RAM don’t be cheap.  A full 8 gigabytes are recommended.  There are lots of good brands, I prefer Corsair because of price and reliability.

LCD monitors are still the most economical and in fact have gone down in price.  You can find 22’ Dell or Samsung monitors for under $200 now.  Even better prices are available if you don’t mind some refurbished products.

Don’t forget dedicated video cards.  One of my favorites is the NVidia GeForce 9600GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI-Ex16 2.0 which boost plenty of speed, but has a very reasonable cost.

Buy Triple Screen Trading System

Way back in 1985, Dr. Alex Elder came up with the idea of the triple screen trading system which was designed to give a comprehensive picture of the market forces using 3 screens.  The first looks at the the slopes of a Histogram.   When sloped down, it’s a buyer’s market.  When sloped up, it’s time to sell.  Any change is recorded.  Screen number 2 is used to calculate factors working against a current trend, such as marketplace weather, so to speak.  Any trader knows that there are many factors which can effect the market, so this screen registers many of them and puts them into a readable format.  Trends are shown by oscillators- which provide buying and selling signals.  These are otherwise known as force index, or Ray/Elder indices.  A less common version is call the Stochastic or Williams percent(R) oscillators.

Screen three is what is referred to as the action screen where buying and selling can take place.  This is often done automatically based on factors calculated on the above mentioned screens and sis sometimes called the stop technique.  The technical term for this is “a weekly decline in the oscillation and the weekly trend is up.  The stop occurs until prices decline, and then a purchase is made.

It’s clear why this system became (and still is) so popular.  Although it takes practice and know how to use the software correctly, it does allow for someone with a relatively small understanding of how the market works to grasp and use it to make money.
